Need to clear some few things

I'm not sure if this is right forum and I have no idea if this right audience for my question so I apologize in advance if I've hit the wrong spot!
Anyhow I'm just playing aroung SVG parser for ActionScript 3 with no particular reason, and I was following specification to convert SVG Path data (currently) input into local self created pieces of code and ran into issues with smooth curveto and smooth quadratic Bézier curveto commands.
Well first of all I have no idea what is exactly ment by "reflecting" in command description but that could be because of my own late night lameness. What I dont understand is how come if I try to create svg file that would show me how those commands would look like it seems that adding S to Path data just kills it as if FireFox SVG parser doesnt know it exists and threats it like an error.
Can anyone explain this issue to me?
